The photo in the gallery of this original kitchen, “BEFORE AND AFTER RESTORATION,” is clear evidence of the work performed on this antique carpenter's bench. What drives our customers to ask us for such iconic kitchens is a nostalgic search for connections to the past. In this, our carpenters are masters at bringing your wishes to life.
For this carpenter's bench, we used only the top part, while the bottom part was refurbished and used to create a kitchen console. Technically, it was not possible to use it in its entirety for obvious reasons: we had to create an underlying structure to house the oven, a chest of drawers, and a two-door compartment under the sink. Note the drawer placed under the antique stone basin, specially shaped for the drain. We maintained the original position of the vises, which is why the bench is a full 95 cm deep. The height is 90 cm, which is quite unusual for a kitchen. Furthermore, the kitchen is a single, rather heavy block, as it is made entirely of solid wood.
As for the finishes, we maintained the bench's original state with all its history: it was only sanitized for woodworm and stained walnut. The wear and the passage of time remain vivid in the wood. For the added parts, we did the impossible to harmonize them and make the unit appear entirely antique.
